Austin Compared to Other Texas Cybercities

This section of the AUSTIN INDEX presents quarterly or monthly indicators that gauge up-to-date changes in the economies of major Texas cybercities or metropolitan statistical areas (MSAs). Data showing employment by industry and business sales are included, as well as other economic and demographic indicators of short term changes in the local economies. Annual data are used to show economic and demographic trends during the past five to ten years.


Component Counties of Texas Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs), 2003 definition

Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSA) are defined by the US Office of Management and Budget (OMB) in Washington, D.C. The component counties included in the MSAs on this list were released in 1999. For a detailed explanation of Metropolitan and Micropolitan Statistical Areas, click here.
