Global Commercialization Program

The IC² Institute has active global programs in:  India, Jordan, Poland, Malaysia, Mexico, Hungary, and Kazakhstan.  Through these programs, IC² Institute researches solutions to leading-edge problems, and implements those solutions with result-oriented action and education.

The IC² Institute has devoted 30 years to research in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship education.  A worldwide leader in economic development, IC² has played an integral role in the growth of Austin over the past 30 years and its transition to a model "technopolis."  The Institute's Global Commercialization program provides emerging regions with a systematic and coordinated projection of IC²'s combined resources to accelerate economic growth:  beginning with regional analyses, and proceeding with entrepreneurship education and technology business incubation.  As we work with regional leaders, the goal is often to establish a commercialization center to support a knowledge economy.

Programs in Emerging Regions Worldwide

The key to regional prosperity is the strategic combination of technology, entrepreneurship, and education.  IC² Institute works with a region's policy makers, educational institutions, local and international investors, and new and existing ventures to accelerate and sustain technology-based economic development.  We join with regional leaders to:

  • Conduct assessment studies including technology, venture, and market assessments; high-tech cluster analyses; and science and technology policy evaluations.
  • Provide access to international markets and risk capital through proactive business development:  match technology ventures with interested customers, partners, and investors; internships in business development and high-tech marketing.
  • Develop and implement educational programs in technology commercialization and entrepreneurship
  • Select promising technologies for commercial development and training technology representatives.
  • Launch and manage venture incubation, global business acceleration, and lab-to-market technology licensing programs.

Technology Commercialization within Enterprises

The Global Commercialization program also provides education for managers of high tech corporations, entrepreneurs, and technologists.  These education programs enable managers to better exploit intangible assets (such as unlicensed IP) to create value, as they examine new strategies for on-the-shelf technologies.  As managers establish decision processes for technology transfer, the result is increased company intrapreneurship:  new products and services, delivered to new markets.
