Stephen has an extensive background in sales, team management, customer support, international channel and business development, as well as global account management. Currently, he is a Project Manager for Global Commercialization Group at the IC² Institute for The University of Texas with the TechBA Program. Prior to his current position, Stephen was a business development and sales manager for an Austin-based technology integrator and business translation service provider, SpanishTech. Stephen refined the business value proposition and marketing strategy to position Spanish Tech’s offerings with top-tier customers such as MJ Sheridan, Fusion Mobile, and GSD & M. Prior to SpanishTech, Stephen held key sales roles at software companies such as Journyx and Tonic Software providing leadership in sales, account management, business partner strategy development and execution, and customer relationship management. Stephen served as IBM/Tivoli’s Business Partner Presales Support Manager for U.S. Business Partners, and for Asia Pacific and Latin America. There he managed and supported a team providing effective and courteous service to IBM’s international field sales engineers and U.S. business partners. Stephen started his career in high tech at IBM /Lotus as an International Account Manager where he learned IBM’s Solution Selling methodology to align products. He speaks fluent Spanish, is highly conversant in Portuguese, and is a graduate of The University of Texas at Austin, holding a BA and minor in the two languages respectively. He is a member of the National Chinese Kenpo Karate Association (NCKKA) and has been a diligent martial arts student since 1993.
