Sid Burback
Director
Sid Burback directs the Global Commercialization Group (GCG) for the IC² Institute, where he has been responsible for working with corporate, government, and educational partners to disseminate the IC² knowledge base on technology commercialization projects and regional initiatives around the world. He has served as Senior Level Advisor regarding strategy, innovation, entrepreneurship and globalization issues to numerous organizations including Lockheed Martin, the World Bank, US Agency for International Development, State Department and the Department of Commerce.
Sid oversees all GCG programs with "hands-on" involvement in economic development, technology commercialization and innovative education.
He joined IC² after eight years of consulting in a variety of industries from airline IT outsourcing to manufacturing. Sid has a unique combination of senior management experience in domestic and international airline operations combined with expertise in consulting, business development, technology project management, technology transfer and licensing management.
Sid completed a five-year technology commercialization project involving Russian defense enterprises. The project matched Russian and Ukrainian defense enterprises with American companies and investors. His efforts produced 60 business initiatives, which resulted in 15 successful ventures generating yearly revenue of over $8M. Mr. Burback also founded two successful small businesses in the service and software development industries; including a software company in Moscow.
Sid received his Master of Science in Technology Management from Pepperdine University. Immediately following, Sid was engaged by Deutsche Aerospace of Munich, Germany, to conduct an American market analysis of a new explosive detection device design for airline passenger baggage. Mr. Burback has ten years experience in airline operations management. He operated a multiple-hub operation for Continental Airlines and was responsible for an international gateway to the Pacific.
Sid served as a Naval Officer, including duty as a First Lieutenant, Fleet Officer and Foreign Ship Liaison Officer.
