05.25.2007 MacuCLEAR Corp., an innovative pharmaceutical company, was awarded the $100,000 grand prize of the 2007 Peltier New Venture Tyler Business Plan Competition on May 24th, 2007. MacuCLEAR Corp. has developed a treatment for age-related macular degeneration (AMD). AMD is the leading cause of severe vision loss and legal blindness in adults over the age of 60. University of Texas graduates Christopher Aniszczyk, Douglas Baum and Mario Ramirez from the Master of Science in Science & Technology Commercialization (MSSTC) program at the IC2 Institute faced a panel of 20 judges with their plan to receive FDA approval for this new treatment.
