03.28.2008 An MSTC team has won 2nd place in the CEDIC New Venture Championship held in Arlington, Texas this year. Christopher Cano, Doug Whitman and Abhi Ghosh of GenVasive Biosciences (www.GenVasive.com) have an impressive track record so far within the MSTC class of 2008. GenVasive Biosciences has won the IC² Institute business plan competition, were finalists in the prestigious Texas Moot Corp Competition, took second place in the CEDIC elevator speech face-off, first place in their division and second place in the CEDIC Championship. Abhi Ghosh states, “the caliber of the competition was extremely rigorous and taught us a great deal about not only how to be competitive in business plan competitions, but also helped us to better analyze the mindset of VCs when determining their potential investments -- definitely a great learning experience.” Since the inception of the CEDIC New Venture Championship in 2006, an MSTC team has represented The University of Texas at Austin in each of the three years. MacuCLEAR Corp., from the class of 2007, won the competition last year and GenVasive Biosciences took 2nd place this year. Way to go MSTC!!! MSTC Director, Dr. Gary M Cadenhead, serves on the CEDIC (Center for Economic Development, Innovation and Commercialization) Board of Trustees and directs the New Venture Championship.
