02.02.2007 - Two MSTC Teams Advance to 2007 Moot Corp Finals

02.02.2007

On February 9, four teams from the University of Texas at Austin will participate in the annual Texas Moot Corp Finals Competition. The Competition has become an annual launch for aspiring entrepreneurs who are graduate students at UT Austin and the winner will land a berth in this year's Global Moot Corp Competition in May.

The competing teams are a diverse group with varied backgrounds: FitCoach.com and NANOTaxi come from both the MBA and TEMBA programs and the NANOTaxi team includes graduate students from UT's Physics, Mechanical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering and doctoral programs. MacuCLEAR and Sixth Sense are teams from the Master of Science in Technology Commercialization (MSTC) program at the IC² Institute.

The Competition simulates the real-world process of raising venture capital. The judges function as an investment group seeking to reach consensus on the business venture they would most likely fund. The quality of the idea, the strength of the management team and the clarity and persuasiveness of the written plan and oral presentation all influence the judges decisions.

The Texas Moot Corp Competition is hosted by the McCombs School of Business at The University of Texas at Austin. The Moot Corp Competition was the first competition of its kind focused on entrepreneurship and is the oldest operating inter- business school new-venture competition in the world. The Global Moot Corp Competition is recognized as the Super Bowl of world business-plan competition.
