Online Option

The MSTC Program was the first online degree program offered by The University of Texas at Austin. Taking the degree program online is an ideal option for working professionals or international students who would otherwise be unable to participate in Austin. Participants may choose to attend classes in Austin, via video webcast, video archive or utilize a combination of all three options. Candidates may complete their degrees without ever attending class in Austin as the MSTC Program does not have a residency requirement. All classes are online globally, so students may participate from anywhere in the world they can access a broadband connection. As classes are archived online after the live session, participants may watch the lectures later if they are unable to make the live class or desire review.

Online students follow the same rigorous curriculum that is the basis for the in-residence degree program. Online students participate in class discussions and group projects through live web streams, chat rooms and threaded discussion groups, following the same assignment schedule as their in-residence counterparts. With instructional design that utilizes the evolving communication capabilities of the Internet, the online option provides maximum flexibility and convenience to those who work or reside beyond the central Texas area. This system offers:

  • An integrated, comprehensive learning experience, achieved through dynamic instruction, pragmatic case studies and intriguing group discussions.
  • Interaction with leading professors who bring their successful industry experience.
  • Collaboration through message boards and chats, sharing ideas, unique perspectives and vital insights among peers and colleagues.
  • Opportunities to network globally with other professionals
  • Convenient participation from home or office.
